A LEARNING EXPERIENCE A MILLION MILES OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM!
Bushcraft is one of the most engaging activities for younger people available today, whether they are working with fire, discovering wild foods, or tracking along a woodland trail, you will see eye's light up and an enthusiasm awaken that other activities just cannot bring.
Our instructors  work hard to develop a range of activities for all ages and can provide your school or youth group with a quality bushcraft experience.
 From short workshops or demonstrations at your own venue to overnight courses at our location, we strive to connect children of all ages to natures beauty and bounty.

Here are just some examples of how fire lighting can map to the National Curriculum for Science
1: Gathering evidence by making observations. Properties of different woods. On a fire bow how pushes and pulls are examples of forces and the effect they have on the drill.
2: Skeleton and antagonistic muscles involved in moving the fire bow.
3: Minimising the effect of burning fossil fuel on the environment by using wood as a fuel.
4: The way in which shaping the ends of the drill differently affects the friction at each end, String on the drill applies a force causing the drill to rotate around a pivot, Relationship between force, area and pressure, Transfer and storage of energy.
5: Evolution of modern humans relating to fire lighting and archaeological evidence. : Sustainable development.
By working with you it will enable us to provide you with a "compelling learning experience".
The very nature of what we do will encourage team working, creative thinking, inquiry, self management and reflective learning, thus can facilitate implementation of "Personal, learning and thinking skills" (PLTS).
Bushcraft encompasses an endless range of topics. With each of the following disciplines there is a vast scope for study, which will be determined by your specific requirements in addition to the age of the students and the duration of session.
  • Fire: preparation, lighting, management and maintenance.
  • Water: sourcing, collection, purification.
  • Shelter: Requirements, positioning, construction, materials.
  • Food: edible wild plants, game preparation.
  • Primitive Hunting Techniques.
  • Campfire Cooking.
  • Navigation: map & compass, GPS, natural navigation.
  • Tree Identification and Uses.
  • Tracking and Nature Awareness.
  • Woodland Management: conservation, coppicing.
  • Crafts & Skills including: Basketry,Cordage,Carving & Green woodworking, Hide and Leather Work, Flint Knapping.
